2nd Grade Classroom Teacher
We are currently seeking an outstanding 2nd grade teacher for the 2025–26 school year. This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving school community that values academic excellence within a child-centered learning environment. Due to continued growth, we are opening a second 2nd grade classroom. The successful candidate will work alongside an experienced same-grade colleague, providing strong opportunities for collaboration and shared planning.

+ Is passionate about early childhood education and nurturing young learners in their academic, social, and emotional growth.

Responsibilities:
+ Deliver a well-rounded, child-centered 2nd Grade Curriculum Overview* that emphasizes Beyond the Book learning, creativity, and curiosity. The taught curriculum* includes:
+ Social Studies: Polar regions, Native Americans, immigration, pioneer life, U.S. government, Kansas agriculture, global geography, map skills, landforms, and cultures through Cinderella stories and country research projects.
+ Language Arts: Phonics (vowels, blends, digraphs), guided reading with fluency and decoding, reading comprehension and genres, grammar, sentence structure, handwriting (print and cursive), and writing (narrative, nonfiction, historical fiction, poetry, folk tales).
+ Mathematics: Number sense by reading and writing numbers up to 1,000 and mastering addition and subtraction within 1,000, including regrouping. Solve story problems using bar models and are introduced to basic multiplication and division (1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 10s). Measurement concepts using both metric and customary systems, covering length, mass, money, time, and basic fractions. In geometry, students explore shapes, graphs, and line plots.

+ Community Building & Traditions
+ Beyond the Book experiences
Visits to local museums, historical sites, observatories, and engaging experiences such as butterfly tagging and chicken embryology.
* Subjects not listed here are taught by content area specialists rather than the homeroom teacher.

Qualifications:
A degree in early childhood education, elementary education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
Teaching experience in an elementary school setting preferred.
A deep commitment to belonging.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
